  4. Abstract
A Darlington differential amplifier includes a differential pair of Darlington transistors, with each pair including a first transistor and a second transistor connected in cascade to the first transistor. The first transistor is controlled by an externally generated voltage and drives the second transistor. The first and second transistors each include first and second conducting terminals, with the first conducting terminals being connected together and forming an output node of the amplifier. A first degeneration impedance is connected between the second conduction terminals of the second transistors in the pair of Darlington transistors. A second degeneration impedance is connected between the second conduction terminals of the first transistors in the pair of Darlington transistors for reducing harmonic distortion of the amplifier.

  9. Gastritis is inflammation of the gastric mucosa caused by any of several conditions, including infection (Helicobacter pylori), drugs (NSAIDs, alcohol), stress, and autoimmune phenomena (atrophic gastritis). Many cases are asymptomatic, but dyspepsia and GI bleeding sometimes occur. Diagnosis is by endoscopy. Treatment is directed at the underlying cause but often includes acid suppression and, for H. pylori infection, antibiotics.

Gastritis is classified as erosive or nonerosive based on the severity of mucosal injury. It is also classified according to the site of involvement (ie, cardia, body, antrum). Gastritis can be further classified histologically as acute or chronic based on the inflammatory cell type. No classification scheme matches perfectly with the pathophysiology; a large degree of overlap exists. Some forms of gastritis involve acid-peptic and H. pylori disease. Additionally, the term is often loosely applied to nonspecific (and often undiagnosed) abdominal discomfort and gastroenteritis.

Acute gastritis is characterized by PMN infiltration of the mucosa of the antrum and body.

    Acute Gastritis

    Chronic Gastritis

Chronic gastritis implies some degree of atrophy (with loss of function of the mucosa) or metaplasia. It predominantly involves the antrum (with subsequent loss of G cells and decreased gastrin secretion) or the corpus (with loss of oxyntic glands, leading to reduced acid, pepsin, and intrinsic factor).

    Erosive Gastritis

Erosive gastritis is gastric mucosal erosion caused by damage to mucosal defenses. It is typically acute, presenting with bleeding, but may be subacute or chronic with few or no symptoms. Diagnosis is by endoscopy. Treatment is supportive, with removal of the inciting cause. Certain ICU patients (eg, ventilator-bound, head trauma, burn, multisystem trauma) benefit from prophylaxis with acid suppressants.

Causes of erosive gastritis include NSAIDs, alcohol, stress, and less commonly radiation, viral infection (eg, cytomegalovirus), vascular injury, and direct trauma (eg, nasogastric tubes).

Superficial erosions and punctate mucosal lesions occur. These may develop as soon as 12 h after the initial insult. Deep erosions, ulcers, and sometimes perforation may occur in severe or untreated cases. Lesions typically occur in the body, but the antrum may also be involved.

Acute stress gastritis, a form of erosive gastritis, occurs in about 5% of critically ill patients. The incidence increases with duration of ICU stay and length of time the patient is not receiving enteral feeding. Pathogenesis likely involves hypoperfusion of the GI mucosa, resulting in impaired mucosal defenses. Patients with head injury or burns may also have increased secretion of acid.

    Symptoms, Signs, and Diagnosis

Patients with mild erosive gastritis are often asymptomatic, although some complain of dyspepsia, nausea, or vomiting. Often, the first sign is hematemesis, melena, or blood in the nasogastric aspirate, usually within 2 to 5 days of the inciting event. Bleeding is usually mild to moderate, although it can be massive if deep ulceration is present, particularly in acute stress gastritis. Acute and chronic erosive gastritis are diagnosed endoscopically.

    Treatment

In severe gastritis, bleeding is managed with IV fluids and blood transfusion as needed. Endoscopic hemostasis should be attempted, with surgery (total gastrectomy) a fallback procedure. Angiography is unlikely to stop severe gastric bleeding because of the many collateral vessels supplying the stomach. Acid suppression should be started if the patient is not already receiving it.

For milder gastritis, removing the offending agent and using drugs to reduce gastric acidity (see Gastritis and Peptic Ulcer Disease: Drug Treatment of Gastric Acidity) may be all that is required.

    Prevention

Prophylaxis with acid-suppressive drugs can reduce the incidence of acute stress gastritis. However, it mainly benefits certain high-risk ICU patients, including those with severe burns, CNS trauma, coagulopathy, sepsis, shock, multiple trauma, mechanical ventilation for > 48 h, hepatic or renal failure, multiorgan dysfunction, and history of peptic ulcer or GI bleeding.

Prophylaxis consists of IV H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors, or oral antacids to raise intragastric pH > 4.0. Repeated pH measurement and titration of therapy are not required. Early enteral feeding also can decrease the incidence of bleeding.

Acid suppression is not recommended for patients simply taking NSAIDs unless they have previously had an ulcer.
    Nonerosive Gastritis

Nonerosive gastritis refers to a variety of histologic abnormalities that are mainly the result of H. pylori infection. Most patients are asymptomatic. Diagnosis is by endoscopy. Treatment is eradication of H. pylori and sometimes acid suppression.

    Pathology

Superficial gastritis: Lymphocytes and plasma cells mixed with neutrophils are the predominant infiltrating inflammatory cells. Inflammation is superficial and may involve the antrum, body, or both. It is usually not accompanied by atrophy or metaplasia. Prevalence increases with age.

Deep gastritis: Deep gastritis is more likely to be symptomatic (eg, vague dyspepsia). Mononuclear cells and neutrophils infiltrate the entire mucosa to the level of the muscularis, but exudate or crypt abscesses seldom result, as might be expected by such infiltration. Distribution may be patchy. Superficial gastritis may be present, as may partial gland atrophy and metaplasia.

Gastric atrophy: Atrophy of gastric glands may follow in gastritis, most often long-standing antral (sometimes referred to as type B) gastritis. Some patients with gastric atrophy have autoantibodies to parietal cells, usually in association with corpus (type A) gastritis and pernicious anemia.

Atrophy may occur without specific symptoms. Endoscopically, the mucosa may appear normal until atrophy is advanced, when submucosal vascularity may be visible. As atrophy becomes complete, secretion of acid and pepsin diminishes and intrinsic factor may be lost, resulting in vitamin B12 malabsorption.

Metaplasia: Two types of metaplasia are common in chronic nonerosive gastritis: mucous gland and intestinal.

Mucous gland metaplasia (pseudopyloric metaplasia) occurs in the setting of severe atrophy of the gastric glands, which are progressively replaced by mucous glands (antral mucosa), especially along the lesser curve. Gastric ulcers may be present (typically at the junction of antral and corpus mucosa), but whether they are the cause or consequence of these metaplastic changes is not clear.

Intestinal metaplasia typically begins in the antrum in response to chronic mucosal injury and may extend to the body. Gastric mucosa cells change to resemble intestinal mucosa—with goblet cells, endocrine (enterochromaffin or enterochromaffin-like) cells, and rudimentary villi—and may even assume functional (absorptive) characteristics. Intestinal metaplasia is classified histologically as complete (most common) or incomplete. With complete metaplasia, gastric mucosa is completely transformed into small-bowel mucosa, both histologically and functionally, with the ability to absorb nutrients and secrete peptides. In incomplete metaplasia, the epithelium assumes a histologic appearance closer to that of the large intestine and frequently exhibits dysplasia. Intestinal metaplasia may lead to stomach cancer.

    Symptoms and Diagnosis

Most patients with H. pylori–associated gastritis are asymptomatic, although some have mild dyspepsia or other vague symptoms. Often the condition is discovered during endoscopy performed for other purposes. Testing of asymptomatic patients is not indicated. Once gastritis is identified, testing for H. pylori is appropriate.

    Treatment

Treatment of chronic nonerosive gastritis is H. pylori eradication (see Gastritis and Peptic Ulcer Disease: Treatment). Treatment of asymptomatic patients is somewhat controversial given the high prevalence of H. pylori–associated superficial gastritis and the relatively low incidence of clinical sequelae (ie, peptic ulcer disease). However, H. pylori is a class J carcinogen; eradication removes the cancer risk. In H. pylori–negative patients, treatment is directed at symptoms using acid-suppressive drugs (eg, H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors) or antacids.

    Postgastrectomy Gastritis

Postgastrectomy gastritis is gastric atrophy developing after partial or subtotal gastrectomy (except in cases of gastrinoma).

Metaplasia of the remaining corpus mucosa is common. The degree of gastritis is usually greatest at the lines of anastomosis.

Several mechanisms are responsible: bile reflux, which is common after such surgery, damages the gastric mucosa; loss of antral gastrin decreases stimulation of parietal and peptic cells, causing atrophy; and vagotomy may result in a loss of vagal trophic action.

There are no specific symptoms of gastritis. Postgastrectomy gastritis often progresses to severe atrophy and achlorhydria. Production of intrinsic factor may cease with resultant vitamin B12 deficiency (which may be worsened by bacterial overgrowth in the afferent loop). The relative risk of gastric adenocarcinoma seems to increase 15 to 20 yr after partial gastrectomy; however, given the low absolute incidence of postgastrectomy cancer, routine endoscopic surveillance is probably not cost effective, but upper GI symptoms or anemia in such patients should prompt endoscopy.

    Uncommon Gastritis Syndromes

Ménétrier’s disease: This rare idiopathic disorder affects adults aged 30 to 60 and is more common among men. It manifests as a significant thickening of the gastric folds of the gastric body but not the antrum. Gland atrophy and marked foveolar pit hyperplasia occur, often accompanied by mucous gland metaplasia and increased mucosal thickness with little inflammation. Hypoalbuminemia (the most consistent laboratory abnormality) caused by GI protein loss may be present (protein-losing gastropathy). As the disease progresses, the secretion of acid and pepsin decreases, producing hypochlorhydria.

Symptoms are nonspecific and commonly include epigastric pain, nausea, weight loss, edema, and diarrhea. Differential diagnosis includes (1) lymphoma, in which multiple gastric ulcers may occur; (2) mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, with extensive infiltration of monoclonal B lymphocytes; (3) Zollinger-Ellison syndrome with associated gastric fold hypertrophy; and (4) Cronkhite-Canada syndrome, a mucosal polypoid protein-losing syndrome associated with diarrhea. Diagnosis is made by endoscopy with deep mucosal biopsy or full-thickness laparoscopic gastric biopsy.

Various treatments have been used, including anticholinergics, antisecretory drugs, and corticosteroids, but none have proven fully effective. Partial or complete gastric resection may be necessary in cases of severe hypoalbuminemia.

Eosinophilic gastritis: Extensive infiltration of the mucosa, submucosa, and muscle layers with eosinophils often occurs in the antrum. It is usually idiopathic but may result from nematode infestation. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and early satiety. Diagnosis is by endoscopic biopsy of involved areas. Corticosteroids can be successful in idiopathic cases; however, if pyloric obstruction develops, surgery may be required.

Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma: This rare condition is characterized by massive lymphoid infiltration of the gastric mucosa, which can resemble Ménétrier’s disease.

Gastritis caused by systemic disorders: Sarcoidosis, TB, amyloidosis, and other granulomatous diseases can cause gastritis, which is seldom of primary importance.

Gastritis caused by physical agents: Radiation and ingestion of corrosives (especially acidic compounds) can cause gastritis. Exposure to > 16 Gy of radiation produces marked deep gastritis, usually involving the antrum more than the corpus. Pyloric stenosis and perforation are possible complications of radiation-induced gastritis.

Infectious (septic) gastritis: Except for H. pylori infection, bacterial invasion of the stomach is rare and mainly occurs following ischemia, ingestion of corrosives, or exposure to radiation. On x‑ray, gas outlines the mucosa. The condition can present as an acute surgical abdomen and has a very high mortality rate. Surgery is often necessary.

Debilitated or immunocompromised patients may develop viral or fungal gastritis with cytomegalovirus, Candida, histoplasmosis, or mucormycosis; these diagnoses should be considered in patients with exudative gastritis, esophagitis, or duodenitis

“Age shall not wither her” – the story

’s secret lies in its root. etsu® comes from the Japanese word for “delight” and it is dedicated to assist women in finding “delight” through the restoration of their inner glow, which leads to outer self-confidence.

Our story comes from a simple observation: – Women do wither with age…
The scientists of etsu® strive to find reasons why some women manage to stand out by maintaining the glow of their youth, no matter how much they age or stress in their daily lives. It is as if they have escaped the natural aging process, looking firm and radiant as they did when they were much younger. Instead of being worn down – they are reborn with a new sense of delight.
The answer lies in the name of Collagen.

Technology has gone so far as to make it easier for the body to absorb these natural ingredients more efficiently, making the skin’s process of self-renewal more effective. Thus adopted this common yet traditional remedy used mainly by Japanese women to replenish the body’s collagen on a daily basis to maintain skin at its natural best.

Together with etsu® …a Flawless skin is in the making.

    “ TropoCol™ – The Foundation of ”

The two key elements in keeping the skin fresh and elastic are Plant Placenta and Collagen, a protein that acts as building blocks in the skin cells, which contains amino acids and peptides that act as bio-stimulators to the skin’s natural rejuvenation. These elements in the body decrease with age, thus making the skin drier, less elastic, less firm and more prone to wrinkling.

The scientist at believed that the simplest but most effective way to give the skin its youthful vitality was to restore these elements. Thereby, formulated TropoCol™ – A formula synthesizing Collagen with Plant Placenta. To refine this formula, acquired the latest nanotechnology, a technique to break down particles of Collagen into smaller particles in order for the body to absorb more easily, this formula became the foundation of.

TropoCol™ benefits your skin in the following manner:

    • Replenishes skin’s moisture level, stimulates natural Collagen production
    • Reduces the appearance of fine lines on the face as it gently plump up uneven surfaces from under the skin’s
    epidermis
    • Plant Placenta assists in the regeneration of cells by stimulating and absorbing more oxygen

TropoCol™ together with other active ingredients block harmful radiation from the sun by forming an outer shield to prevent skin discoloration while maintaining long lasting moisturisation to give you a firmer and clearer skin.

    What is Collagen?

Collagen is the natural building block that firms the skin and gives you that youthful look and supple feel. It is the foundation that supports the skin, providing firmness and elasticity from inside out.

More than a third of the body’s protein is collagen and it can account for an even higher percentage in particular parts of the body. Collagen makes up 75% of our skin. The more science learns about the body, the more significant we see collagen to be. When the body needs to build any new cellular structure as in the healing process, for example, collagen and collagen fragments play a central role.

    Reduction of Skin Level

Therefore it is important to keep replenishing the body’s collagen, and one of the most effective ways to do so is to take collagen supplement. However, not all collagen supplements give the desired result, and not all collagen are
of the same quality. It is recommended that you look for a collagen with a high gel strength such as bloom 250
    and above.

Through years of dedicated and intensive research, the breakthrough ingredient, TropoCol B300™ was discovered.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

    What and why Collagen?

Collagen is a product which took years to perfect by a team of experts in Kyoto, Japan.

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
    How It Works?

With Collagen, beauty is within easy reach. At least that is what 300 women* tell us.
Within weeks of using Collagen products, some of these women felt a 72 per cent improvement in their skin’s smoothness. Others happily reported that their skin was 70 per cent firmer while other elated women saw improvement in radiance by an encouraging 78 per cent.

With these encouraging results, they stuck by Collagen products and their patience was rewarded. A large number of the 300 women saw a 70 per cent reduction in wrinkles while others bade farewell to more than two-thirds of the fine lines on their face.

This show you that is the skincare product of choice for Asian women.

    …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
    The Science Behind Collagen

The main culprits of aging are the loss of collagen and elastin. As we grow older, the skin produces lesser and lesser collagen and elastin. This depletion equals to just one thing, the beginning of the aging process.

In a survey carried out by a Japanese magazine, more than 90 per cent of readers say skin elasticity is the secret behind great skin. They were right. Elasticity dictates the skin’s appearance, radiance and resilience. But with age, elasticity depletes and skin slowly becomes dry and dull. Fine lines, especially around the eyes and mouth begin appearing. Also, the loss of elasticity affects sebum secretion, causing acne and open pores.

Collagen restores skin’s elasticity, returning skin to its firm and glowing state, as it was meant to be. high-grade and totally pure TropoCol B300™ has tiny molecules which is very easily absorbed by the skin, restoring the skin as natural collagen would while substantially improving elasticity and texture

MALAYSIA will cut its 2009 growth forecast due to the global economic slowdown, may review its budget deficit targets for this year and next and will examine some infrastructure projects, the government said today.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Najib Razak told a news conference that while Malaysia was insulated from the worst effects of the global crisis, the growth forecast for 2009 “will be reviewed downwards”.

Najib is also finance minister and is set to take over as prime minister in March.

He said that although Malaysia’s financial services sector was “resilient”, the crisis would affect the economy here, which the government had seen growing 5.4 per cent next year.

The Southeast Asian nation has a managed float for its ringgit currency and runs a large current account surplus which has insulated it from the financial contagion that has hit the world’s economies.

“Yes, our stock market is affected by the sentiment in other markets, but I would like to say that we are not in a financial crisis and certainly we should not talk ourselves into one,” Najib said.

Malaysia is, however, the third most exposed economy in terms of exports as a percentage of gross domestic product, according to a survey from investment bank UBS on emerging economies.

The country’s budget deficit is expected to surge this year to 4.8 per cent of GDP from a planned 3.1 per cent of GDP, thus limiting the government’s room for a big spending stimulus to offset falling exports.

Najib also said that Malaysia would liberalise some sections of its financial services economy to attract more foreign investment and would seek to encourage more foreign investment in property.

Meanwhile, Khazanah Holdings managing director Datuk Md Azman Mokhtar said: “The companies are certainly better and stronger than they were 4, 5 years ago … So therefore we think they are certainly in a much better shape to withstand these kinds of shocks.”

Ideagobal’s Gundy Cahyadi said; “I guess in general the 2009 downgrade is inevitable. The Bank Negara Malaysia (central bank) has signalled they are going to look at an even slower growth rate.

“Now the UK, the US and Europe will be growing negatively next year and that will affect Malaysia. I am projecting 4-5 per cent growth next year. The main thing to watch for Malaysia is the export sector.

“It has been okay in the second quarter, especially commodities, but that is going to change because commodity prices have eased and I do not see much support from these going forward. Domestic growth has been slowing and obviously the political situation does not help business,” he said.

Most Asian countries have downgraded their growth forecast for next year, especially those which are export oriented.

Joanna Tan, an economist with Forecast Pvt Ltd, said: “This is not unexpected given what is happening. Economic indicators have all been pointing to slowing growth. I guess they are just reacting to what might be seen as a slowdown in the economy due to global markets.”

“I guess they are going to announce more measures to help prop up the economy. Going forward the outlook is still bleak and we are also looking at what will happen on Friday. Let’s see if the central bank cuts rates in reaction to all this,” she added.

Another economist, Lee Heng Guie of CIMB said: “(There is) nothing much to say because they haven’t finalised the number. Given the deepening global financial crisis that has spread from the US to emerging countries, I would expect the government would review the 2009 growth target.

“It is realistic the government review the growth forecast for next year given the budget hasn’t fully factored in the global financial crisis.” – Reuters

  43. Introduction
Validity is the extent to which a test measures what it claims to measure. It is vital for a test to be valid in order for the results to be accurately applied and interpreted.
Validity has been described as ‘the agreement between a test score or measure and the quality it is believed to measure’ (Kaplan and Saccuzzo, 2001). In other words, it measures the gap between what a test actually measures and what it is intended to measure.
This gap can be caused by two particular circumstances:
    (a) the design of the test is insufficient for the intended purpose, and
    (b) the test is used in a context or fashion which was not intended in the design.
    Types of validity
    Face validity
Face validity is that the test appears to be valid. This is validated using common-sense rules, for example that a mathematical test should include some numerical elements.
A test can appear to be invalid but actually be perfectly valid, for example where correlations between unrelated items and the desired items have been found. For example, successful pilots in WW2 were found to very often have had an active childhood interest in flying model planes.
A test that does not have face validity may be rejected by test-takers (if they have that option) and also people who are choosing the test to use from amongst a set of options.
Face validity occurs where something appears to be valid. This of course depends very much on the judgment of the observer. In any case, it is never sufficient and requires more solid validity to enable acceptable conclusions to be drawn.
Measures often start out with face validity as the researcher selects those which seem likely prove the point.

    Content validity
A test has content validity if it sufficiently covers the area that it is intended to cover. This is particularly important in ability or attainment tests that validate skills or knowledge in a particular domain.
Content under-representation occurs when important areas are missed. Construct-irrelevant variation occurs when irrelevant factors contaminate the test.
Content validity occurs when the experiment provides adequate coverage of the subject being studied. This includes measuring the right things as well as having an adequate sample. Samples should be both large enough and be taken for appropriate target groups.
The perfect question gives a complete measure of all aspects of what is being investigated. However in practice this is seldom likely, for example a simple addition does not test the whole of mathematical ability.
Content validity is related very closely to good experimental design. A high content validity question covers more of what is sought. A trick with all questions is to ensure that all of the target content is covered (preferably uniformly).

    Construct validity
Underlying many tests is a construct or theory that is being assessed. For example, there are a number of constructs for describing intelligence (spatial ability, verbal reasoning, etc.) which the test will individually assess.
Constructs can be about causes, about effects and the cause-effect relationship.
If the construct is not valid then the test on which it is based will not be valid. For example, there have been historical constructs that intelligence is based on the size and shape of the skull.
Construct validity occurs when the theoretical constructs of cause and effect accurately represent the real-world situations they are intended to model. This is related to how well the experiment is operationalized. A good experiment turns the theory (constructs) into actual things you can measure. Sometimes just finding out more about the construct (which itself must be valid) can be helpful.
Construct validity is thus an assessment of the quality of an instrument or experimental design. It says ‘Does it measure the construct it is supposed to measure’. If you do not have construct validity, you will likely draw incorrect conclusions from the experiment (garbage in, garbage out).

    Criterion-related validity
Criterion-related validity is like construct validity, but now relates the test to some external criterion, such as particular aspects of the job.
There are dangers with the external criterion being selected based on its convenience rather than being a full representation of the job. For example an air traffic control test may use a limited set of scenarios.
Concurrent validity is measured by comparing two tests done at the same time, for example a written test and a hands-on exercise that seek to assess the same criterion. This can be used to limit criterion errors.
Predictive validity, in contrast, compares success in the test with actual success in the future job. The test is then adjusted over time to improve its validity.
This examines the ability of the measure to predict a variable that is designated as a criterion. A criterion may well be an externally-defined ‘gold standard’. Achieving this level of validity thus makes results more credible.
Criterion-related validity is related to external validity.

Nilai kebolehpercayaan alat kajian adalah a=0.7632. Analisis statistic deskriptif telah digunakan dalam tatacara menganalisis data. Secara keseluruhannya, hasil kajian menunjukkan tahap penguasaan pelajar terhadap penggunaan tulisan jawi berada pada tahap yang tinggi.

  46. {Nice keyboard. Indeed useful.
But I found a flow, that when not in use, the addon unnecessarily increases the length of the phone and the full body slider ring will be bad for
antenna.Instead why not just put a rubber top keyboard, which
can be pushed at the back of the phone when not in use, and bring it to top
when u want to use it. No slide, but just a piece of rubber.
Can you design it ?|Hi Aditi,
thanks for the comment.the explanation below could
be helpful. When the slider closed, the Qwerty add-on just adds a centimeter to
    the phone’s length.
Refer the side view of the qwerty.the full body is actually a case to protect the phone and the slider rail starts from below the screen. So wont affect the antenna. In fact, it will remove the iphone 4 reception issues as apple is also offering the same kind of bumper case .With no offense to your idea, correct me if I am wrong- When you are talking about “the rubber keyboard” u refer to silicone keyboard which are generally flexible . I dealt with the issue of accountability specifically on my site here. It’s great to have the Covenant Eyes app though I haven’t tried the others. One big problem with internet accountability on the iPhone is that many of the apps have embedded browsers (i.e. push a button within the app and it opens an unmonitored version of the safari browser within the app). And I too, had the problem with “oil slicks” on my screen until I changed my screen protector to a non-glare type. It is so worth the money and a lot less than replacing my phone!|I personally own an otter box defender and although it is a great case the size is definitely a down fall. You can throw it drop it bump it slide it and it even allows your phone to come in contact with water for a short period of time, although I wouldn’t recommend it. Even though I love the otter box I am looking to buy the switcheasy neocapsule so any current owner feedback would be extremely helpful!|the .m4r file does not get transferred as a ringtone, it is in the “Music” folder of iTunes. Really want my ringtones back!! Thanks!!|I’ve been using this for awhile with no problems and recommended to many others. I recently noticed, with all the syncing I’m doing between several other Apple products, I’ve lost the full version of the songs that I turned into Ringtones. I’m changing the artist and album name of the Ringtone to see if that solves the problem. I’m uploading the full versions that I have on CD, but have lost the music that I had purchased. Is it me or is this a new glitch? Thanks|Does not work for m4p songs? Is there a way to convert to m4a so that I can create an AAC version?|Thanks mate. Does this work for use on an Android phone?
Thanks!!|These instructions could work for Android if you didn’t turn the clip into an m4r, but rather an mp3 (Android doesn’t support m4r ringtones). So in Step 6, you’d select MP3 encoder instead of AAC. Then ignore the steps where you change the file types into m4r. However, please note that because Android phones are all different, getting the ringtone onto whatever type of Android phone you have could be challenging.|doesn’t work. my itunes (on my mac) does not have a “ringtones” listed in the library and I can not drag and drop between multiple windows so none of the troubleshooting options are viable. it appears that some vital steps are missing.|I got the file made, but I cannot get it into the ringtones, when I import it back into iTunes it goes into the music folder…I did delete the original AAC version from my iTunes library…|Got there in the end, but after much cursing and fiddling. The song I chose isn’t very loud. I noticed an option to increase the volume of the music when doing the AAC thing but it’s still not LOUD enough. Anything else I can do to increase the volume level of the song. Phone ringer volume is on full as well. Or is it just a case of the levels the song was originally recorded at?|I get up to step 25. As far as the ringer switch is concerned, if I can get my fat sausage fingers to move that switch, then almost anybody can.
In addition, it is the only case I could find that gave as much protection as it does without being oversized.|I bought this case along with my 4, and I’ve had (in less than a month)( they same scratching and button problems. My main complaint is that the case edge around the camera reflects the flash back toward the lens, resulting in blurry photos with t huge lens flare! And given how “durable” (read- hard to remove) the case is, it’s useless for those times when you really want to take a low-light photo.
Of course, like any other case it doubles the bulk of the phone, which can be good or bad- I happen to like the extra heft as I’m prone to losing my phone in deep pockets.

His OtterBox Defender came as a promotional item when he got his Blackberry last summer. He is so impressed with it, not only does he insist every future phone of ours will have it, but he demonstrates to people who ask (and some who don’t) about his case. He has thrown it down many places and tossed it about on worksites to prove his point. At Christmas, he threw it down the aisle at Target to demonstrate why a lady who purchased two iPads as gifts should invest in the Otterbox product. She put down the flimsy cases he was holding, smiled and thanked him and verified where she could get hers and off she went.I am nervous to go long without a case but I will be extra, extra, extra careful with my new Verizon iPhone until OtterBox comes out with the Defender Case. Worth every penny!Thank you!P.S. So close to tracking down an OtterBox decal for his truck for how much he loves it.|I’m glad! We have tons of his Proud Papa OtterBox stories. He loves demonstrating how much of a BASOB OtterBox Defender cases are!And thank you! I am so excited! I have e-mailed you!|I’m a fan of the iPhone 4 cases where the leg (stand) pops out. My biggest issue is whether I should get a case for the iPhone 4S. I paid the $99 for the Apple Care + coverage which allows me up to 2 replacement handsets after paying the $49 deductible. If you factor in the cost of a good case ($40) plus invisible shield on the front/back ($35), you’re looking at spending $75 versus just paying the $50 deductible and having your phone replaced entirely. I think the third party case market for iPhones will take a hit if people start doing the math on the case/shield protections. Hopefully it’ll make companies lower their prices on cases and shields so we all win.|To whom this may concern,

I don’t know of a specific guide, the stores exist because it’s easier.|These Iphone 4 skins are all so beautiful! I just love the Volcano one or Feather Brain or Festival, they are all amazing! ;)|Thanks.

Help?|For those people who haven’t been able to get this to work:
    1) Have you made sure the ringtone is set to sync in the ringtone tab in the iPhone configuration?
    2) Are you sure you’re using a DRM-free song as stated in the instructions?|This doesn’t work for me in Vista. I drag the file over to Ringtones and it does not appear there. Sync is on. Any ideas?|God damn it, I tried it on my Gz one boulder and figured I had a shot, I’ve been screwing around with this for about a half an hour and have been trying to figure this thing out for 3! I’m watching tv. :/|thanks braden…i set all durations to less than 40 seconds and they automatically appear in the ringtone section of the iphone for syncing. i tried this before and dint work because i set the duration too long|Hmmm… This method doesn’t work with some of my audio files. Investigating…|This works great. Thank you for the article. One question though…For certain tunes, the volume was a little low, so I adjusted the volume and the equalizer on the piece I am interested in. I even played it in itunes and it even sounds softer than the origional. Any ideas?|For a last step, you should mention re-opening the original audio file and resetting the start and end times to play the full song properly again.|Got it to work! once I shorten the name as suggested by Zed.
LJ Neal, look at the picture in step 4 above, the tools he is referring to is on you pc/laptop.
Thanks again.|It worked! make sure you change the name of the ringtone to one word! I used the song Still Alive from portal, originally when i named it Portal Ring Tone it would not show up on my phone. After changing the name to just “portal” it worked!|Hi there,

I do recommend…|i followed it, and it worked okay, my iphone synced, but now i cannot find the tone among the ringtones on my iphone… :S|I have made a bunch of ring tones thanks. I have discovered a few short cuts to your method|I just got it to work in Vista. Original mp3 is DRM free, I can name it whatever I like (no need for one word filenames), and it’s about 33 seconds long. The only thing you need to do… AFTER you have copied the file to your desktop and renamed the extension… delete the 30 second clip that you converted from mp3 to aac from your itunes library. Then import the ringtone that you created. Voila!|This works perfectly!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I really appreciate it!!!!!!|I was having problems with this as well, until I read the comment about making the file name all one word. No spaces, no underscores. I purchase a song fron itunes for use on my ipod and I want to turn that ALREADY purchased song into a ringtone I have to pay another .99 cents? That is a WRONG Apple, Wrong!
I tried this and it didn’t work for me. Operator error maybe?? Did you explain somewhere what a DRM-free file is? I wasn’t sure what it was when I was reading your article; however, I still tried your method. I got an error message the minute I tried to convert to AAC saying that protected files could not be converted to ther formats. Does this have something to do with DRM-free or the lack of? I’m using Vista, iphone 2.1 and itunes 8.0.1. Please give me some hope.|Excellent tutorial! I just bought an iPhone and prior to that I had a SLVR. I used Audacity to make my own ringtones.
